Laser Acupuncture
Testimony
Jason, 15 years

Introduction
Prior to
starting the Laser Acupuncture, Jason was 8 ½ years post BAO (Basilar
Artery Occlusion), which occurred six weeks after colliding with another
soccer player, and resulted in LIS (Locked In Syndrome). Though still very
disabled Jason had made significant progress in the first three years post
injury, then plateaud for 2-3 years, after which he experienced decline in
function for 2-3 years when the extensor tone in his legs surprisingly
changed to flexor tone.
Laser
Acupuncture Treatment
Jason had his
first acupuncture treatment sessions during the month of June, 2005. At
the start of the treatment Jason needed knee and butt support during
walking with a walker, as well as help placing his left foot forward.
During the first two weeks of treatment Jason improved to just needing hip
stabilization and less help with the left leg. Jason continued treatment
for two more weeks and a few weeks after returning home, he was able to
make a few steps without any help at all.
When he returned for treatment November of 2005, he had another week
of laser acupuncture and though he didn’t make improvement at the time of
the session, he was able to make further improvements again in the weeks
after our return home. He can now walk without assistance in his walker
for 40 meters and make a U-turn after the first 20 meters. Of course I do
walk right behind him for stand-by assistance, though I do not ever have
to help him, except sometimes when his left foot gets stuck behind the
right foot.
Summary
Jason is finally able to make progress again to a
higher level of function
each
time he has a laser acupuncture treatment block of one or more weeks. We
are so excited that the same level of exercise is now allowing him to make
progress, and it has once again become rewarding to
exercise.
We are also
realistically hopeful again that Jason will progress to having
independent
walking mobility in the home setting. What is even
more remarkable
is that we had not expected anything from the treatment as we had tried
intense exercise treatment programs during his plateau and decline in
function, without experiencing any kind of improvements.
It
seems the laser acupuncture makes it possible again for Jason to improve
his function, and we are very happy about that.
